2011 Bismarck School Group Fundraiser

The most effective fundraisers require the least amount of time and effort from parents, students and staff.

Why? Because we're all busy these days. I often find myself short on time and space, and others do too.

Speaking of space, that's in short supply. I have boxes of our childrens' artwork and school projects taking up space in my basement, attic and closets. Combining those two challenges inspired an award winning idea.

Why not have some fun and a fundraiser by storing each child's artwork for the year in a hardcover art book.

Extra Fuji Funding available for your Fundraiser

You may have seen on KXnews that The Photo Express just won first prize in FujiFilm's national Photo Book Promotion contest.

The first prize supplies the money and marketing support to create, promote and implement a pilot program in our local schools. The resulting fundraiser details will be shared nationwide next year.

Parents get a full-color hardcover art book

Here's the Reader's Digest version of the idea. This spring, parents pre-buy a book from the local school organization for $20. Checks are made out directly to your organization.

Parents know hardcover photo books sell for $20-$30 retail, so it's a great value.

At the end of the school year, parents bring photos of their child's artwork to The Photo Express. We'll create, print and bind a hard-cover full-color book filled with the child's artwork and photos.

Seeing their artwork in print is great for the child's self-esteem, parents can toss the original artwork guilt-free and your organization has made some money.

What did I hear about matching donations?

Your organization will earn triple dollars in the spring of 2011.

Non-profits are normally charged $15 per book for materials. However this spring, FujiFilm is providing $5 per book for materials. Plus, The Photo Express is also supporting our local schools by donating an additional $5 per book.

So your group is only paying $5 for each book sold for $20 this spring. It's an exceptionally good deal that nets your organization $15 per book purchased.

What will we need to do?

The Photo Express will provide promotional materials for the fundraiser and order forms that you can copy. You'll need volunteers to put up the posters, distribute the order forms to the parents and collect the checks attached to the returned order forms.

In return, we want your suggestions on what can help make this fundraiser work for you. How can organizations get the word out to parents? What questions might parents ask that we can answer in the promotional materials or on this website? (Yes, this website is an experiment. We welcome your suggestions.)

Suggestions for any tips we can post for the parents are most welcome as well.

We also ask that participating organizations provide feedback in May regarding what worked well and what can be improved for the 2012 national rollout. Other schools across the country are sorely in need of more funds, and FujiFilm hopes to help them with fund raising next year.
